Louise Jensen of Potsdam was recently inducted as the newest member of the Rotary Club of Potsdam. She is the community energy advocate for Northern Power & Light in the Potsdam and Canton area.
Jensen has a diverse background in both the public and private sectors.

In New York City, she served as a founding partner of a full-service marketing communications firm, Jensen Communications, that served Fortune 500 companies, including PepsiCo and Citicorp.

Having agricultural and rural roots, she became, and still is, concerned about the dramatic shifts in land use and returned to graduate school in environmental policy at Bard College. Since completing her studies, she has served as the associate director of preservation nationally for the Garden Conservancy, executive director of Community Energy Services, and the executive director of Lassen Land and Trails Trust in California.

Today, in her role as Northern Power & Light's community energy advocate, Jensen is working to educate and engage the community in renewable energy, in particular, locally produced hydroelectricity.

In retirement, she and her husband, John, have returned “home” to the North Country and live in Potsdam with their two pups, Flo and Eddie.

The Potsdam Rotary Club meets each Wednesday at noon at the Potsdam Town Hall. Guests are welcome.
